The YZ traditional spanish guitar project
The YZ project is a dream come true for me. why ? here's the story:
Eight years ago i went to a guitar festival in Tel Aviv, to hear
Yoram Zerbib playing. His playing and musicality was incredible.
At that time I've lived in Mexico and decided to invite him over to
play a concert in Bellas Artes and Ensenada. At that point i learned
that Yoram is a perfectionist. I do not know many guitar players
that own two different Flettas, and a Friedrisch and a Munch. He is
not a collcetor! He is a performing artist! Every time I visit him,
it's a musical
celebration. As a builder, i felt that Yoram has a deep
understanding of what a traditional guitar should be and sound. with
his resume of truly playing around the world, graduating the ecole
normale de
musice de paris, winning numerous first prizes in competitions, and
being a key teacher in the classical guitar department of
Jerusalem's music academy, I've always dreamed of him playing one of
my guitars...
A year ago, we lift the envelope, and started a very special journey
together.
Yoram commissioned four classical Spanish traditional
guitars, to his exact specifications. sound, materials, neck size
and many many more details. The only problems we had was deciding
which soundboard to use. Eventually, there would be no guess work.
We
decided to build one guitar of cedar- 93 , on of German spruce-77,
one of redwood-91 , and one of Sitka spruce-77. Back and sides, as
always
- made of Brazillian rosewood from my private collection. its
important for all of you to know, Yoram does not have in mind to
keep all four guitars for himself. he's a man of a vision and his
intention
is to create the ultimate traditional guitar, in his eyes and ears.
And to offer it to his students and whoever is interested.
You are invited to join us in this uniqe journey, which will unfold
along the months with more pictures, stories and videos.
Wish to own a YZ ? The dream is not out of your grasp.
The project starts at 5,600 US $ , and not for long.
